FontStack 1.02

FontStack is an innovative AUv3 plugin for iOS designed to enhance your digital audio workstation (DAW) experience by enabling the integration of SF2 SoundFonts. SoundFonts, which gained popularity in the early 1990s alongside the SoundBlaster series of sound cards, provided a new avenue for musical creation through tools such as Trackers on platforms like the Amiga. While modern usage of this standard has diminished, a significant repository of free SF2 files remains accessible online, ready for implementation within FontStack.

A SoundFont, represented by a .sf2 file extension, consists of various samples, instruments, and presets. FontStack facilitates the loading of multiple SoundFonts across its four layers, allowing for a diverse range of creative applications.

The plugin offers the ability to stack layers, fostering rich combinations of tones. Users can assign distinct key ranges to individual layers to create virtual splits or blend them for greater depth. Each layer can also operate on its own MIDI channel, providing true OMNI mode functionality.

Among its notable features is the caching capability for all SoundFonts and their respective instruments. This function streamlines the process of locating specific instruments without manually sifting through numerous files.

Additionally, FontStack allows for linking to a remote folder containing a global collection of SoundFonts, facilitating cross-application sharing. Both internal and external SoundFonts benefit from caching, ensuring that searching remains efficient regardless of source.
